21 - 23 August 2020
"I invite you a transformative shiva shakti summer yoga weekend retreat, in which we gain strength from the power of the sun and light at this time of the year. Reconnect with the joy for life. It is the ideal moment to celebrate growth and life. Take advantage of the beautiful setting and enjoy walks, talks and lots of mindful yoga. Meet like-minded people and make new friends or reconnect with old ones. I am going to put you on a mindful journey throughout your body and help you find this connection within yourself that serves you to be able to better connect with others thereafter. You will learn how to move actively from the core without hardening it and how this helps to increase vital energy flow within. I am registered as a senior yoga teacher by Yoga Alliance and have been teaching internationally since 2005. Looking forward to our weekend in this special area."
Yoga weekend walks, yoga, chill out. Dynamic practice in the morning, philosophy, anatomy, and physiology in the afternoon, restorative meditative practice in the evening. Happy feedback from previous weekends and retreats run by Claudia Steinhauser:
“ Had the most amazing weekend with Claudia at Tilton House. Lovely place, great company and amazing yoga. Claudia creates relaxed, fun and informative yoga sessions, finding time to help and encourage everyone. I love the way she takes striving out of the equation and makes sure everyone is going at their own pace. A weekend away has reminded me how much I enjoy Claudia’s approach. I will definitely try to make the next weekend and hopefully some classes in between! Kay Dempster, July 2019
“Claudia is a very experienced Teacher. I have always found her classes have always been interesting, informative, challenging and fun. I love them and can’t wait till i can go to the next one. Gill Mitchell, BWY”
“I have been a student of Claudia’s in her weekly classes and also on her weekend retreats in the south of Spain. Claudia is an accomplished teacher. Her classes really focused me on improving my alignment and breathing. I learnt a lot about different types of yoga and also different aspects of yoga practice and philosophy. She is down to earth and approachable and I always laughed a lot and had fun in her classes. She made me challenge my preconceptions about yoga practice. I really miss my classes with Claudia and look forward to attending one of her retreats in the near future. Rachel Elizabeth Smith Jerez De La Frontera”
Shared learned experiences people wrote down:
"Shared experiences, book recommendations and discovering people from other creative backgrounds"
"Slowing down, going with the flow, accepting people as they are and being able to stay neutral or positive towards everyone I met"
"I’ve loved the enthusiasm, positive energy you created among the group. Thanks for sharing Tips how to protect knees and Joints, you don’t learn that in a normal yoga class at the gym. Keep smiling it’s contagious"
"I’ve learnt everything! Yoga is more about philosophy than movement. Brilliant teaching and inspiring"
"Lovely, peaceful and relaxing weekend, beautiful venue. I got energy and joy, thank you"
"Met lovely people and learned to be kind to my body and learned to bend less and protect joints. Enjoyed the weekend, Claudia you give a lot to class, all appreciated very much."
"Sense of self through the awareness of my body via your lovely soul and knowledge of yoga. Thanks"
"Thank you! I really enjoyed the weekend and your approach to teaching of yoga, which I feel is positive and accepted of all and differences, strength and individualized"
"I learnt that we are all on our path and suffer, but with love and joy and mutual understanding and care we can mindfully overcome this pain and do "good" (opposite of being self centred). To connect with like minded people the shakti is strong."
"A real sense of feeling a part of something very special"
There comes a day, somewhere in the middle of every woman’s life, when Mother Nature herself stands behind us and wraps her arms around our shoulders, whispering.
“You have taken enough now. It’s time to stop growing up, stop growing older and start growing wiser – and wilder.
There are adventures still waiting on you and this time, you will enjoy them with the vision of wisdom and the companionship of hindsight, and you will really let go.
It’s time to stop the madness of comparison and the ridicule of schedule and conformity and start experiencing the joys that a life, free of containment and guilt, can bring.”She will shake your shoulders gently and remind you that you’ve done your bit. You’ve given too much, cared too much, you’ve suffered too much.
You’ve bought the book as it were and worn the t-shirt.Worse, you’ve worn the chains and carried the weight of a burden far too heavy for your shoulders.
“It’s time” she will say.
“Let it go, really let it go and feel the freedom of the fresh, clean spaces within you. Fill them with discovery, love and laughter. Fill yourself so full you will no longer fear what is ahead and instead you will greet each day with the excitement of a child.” She will remind you that if you choose to stop caring what other people think of you and instead of caring what you think of you, that you will experience a new era of your life you never dreamed possible.
‘It’s time’ she will say…
“to write the ending, or new beginning, of your own story.”~

Getting there and Venue details:
You can use SAT NAV for the bulk of your journey, but please be advised it does not work once you leave the A27. Too many cars have ended up in ditches by following the voice of their sat nav !
Here is what you need to know:-
Take the Charleston turn off of the A27, just past Middle Farm if coming from the west. Follow the broken private road, but go PAST the turn off for Charleston Farmhouse, after which the road bends left, with the South Downs on your right. You are now driving between two fields. As soon as you reach a barn directly in front of you, take a small track LEFT. Drive slowly and continue on to the end and onto a gravel driveway. You are at Tilton House. Park up.
It's not that easy to get to us by public transport, but here are some options.
Take a train to Lewes (direct from Gatwick or Victoria), then take a taxi to us with GM Taxis +44 (0)1273 473 737 for about £18.
or take a train to Lewes (direct from Gatwick or Victoria) then walk down to Lewes bus station and take the 125 bus alighting at Charleston Farmhouse Drive on the A27. You then walk a mile down the track to us - look out for Cezannes' in the hedge !

Gayles "The retreat place is a picturesque retreat centre ideally situated in outstanding countryside on the South Downs, five miles from Eastbourne and fifteen from Brighton. Here rural doesn’t mean hard to reach; there are excellent train services from the nearby towns that provide direct travel to and from London Victoria, Gatwick, Ashford International, Brighton and so on.
With its open fire, high ceiling and refreshing artworks, The Stables, a beautifully converted 1930s stable and adjoining property, provides a warm and practical area for eating, chatting and relaxing. The ground level has an open-plan, well-equipped, kitchen and dining room with under-floor heating. There is extraordinarily beautiful countryside, seaside, and excellent walking opportunities all around. "
